Bios

In the fall of 2003 the Descendants’ parents were putting together a concert. The kids were going to their practices and were totally bored just hanging out. Since the kids were also into music and each played different instruments, Luke’s mom suggested that instead of just sitting around that the kids start their own band and use the time to practice their own music. The idea took off and the band was formed.

The name of the band came about when the kids were scheduled for their first “gig” at the Royal Alberta Museum. One of the parents suggested “ The Descendants” as the kids are descendants of musicians and the name stuck.

Over the last three or so years The Descendants have played at folk festivals, school dances, competitions, and benefit concerts. In the spring of 2007, The Descendants were finalists and the youngest band in the Vision Fest Battle of the Bands competition – competing with bands whose age ranged from 17 to 30.

Spencer Huddleston – Keyboards, Vocals

Spencer is ten years old and the youngest member of the band. He has been playing since the age of six and also enjoys creating songs. When Spencer isn’t playing the keyboards, jamming on the guitar, or banging on drums he likes to play hockey and skateboard.

Luke Seburn – Lead Guitar, Vocals

Luke is thirteen years old and has been playing guitar for the last three years. He is an original member of the band who in addition to playing guitar, also likes to play drums and bass. Luke is very creative, drawing on Jimi Hendrix for inspiration in his playing. While Luke loves all sports he is most serious about wrestling and baseball.

Mackenzie Meachem – Lead Vocals

Mackenzie is eleven years old and has been taking vocal instruction since the age of seven. She started performing on stage at five years old and has even performed on a cruise ship. In addition to singing, Mackenzie is actively involved in ballet, jazz, and hip-hop dancing.

Landon Turlock – Electric Bass, Vocals

Landon is twelve years old and is the newest member of the band. He has been playing for five years and studies both the guitar and bass. Landon enjoys creating original material with the other band members and listening to Eddie Van Halen and John Entwistle.

Caleb Steinwandt – Rhythm Guitar, Vocals

Caleb is thirteen years old and is also an original member of the Descendants. He has been playing guitar for three years and likes to be creative in his style. When Caleb isn’t playing music, he enjoys hockey, football, basketball, and snowboarding.

Mackenzie “Mack” Huddleston – Drums, Vocals

Mack is twelve years old and started playing drums when he was two. He is one of the original members of the band, likes to create songs and also enjoys playing guitar. Mack loves to play all sports and is a devoted Oilers fan.

Delaney Tiedeman - Vocals, Electric Bass

Delaney has been singing pretty much since she could speak. She has played the bass guitar for 3 years and also enjoys playing the piano. When Delaney isn’t playing music or singing in a choir, she also plays on a girl's hockey team. She enjoys playing football and in the winter she likes to snowboard.
